Today I got home and Charlie did not run to greet me. I heard no barking, no scurrying feet. I was worried. I searched the house high and low but could not find a trace of my dear puppy in his normal haunts. Finally, I found him. He was caught in a mass of computer cords under a desk, looking at me with the most pathetic expression. After I worked to free him, he bounded through the house and the yard, yipping joyfully. It made me smile.
